DCC Introduces Advanced Geographical Notification Software

- ArcView®-based System Offers Increased Flexibility, Compatibility - for Community Notifications-

Franklin, Tennessee– DCC (Dialogic Communications Corporation), the nation's leading high-speed notification provider, has unveiled GeoCast – a highly advanced geographic interface based on industry-standard GIS (geographic information system) technology by ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute) — enabling high-speed notification users to selectively alert thousands of individuals, based on location, during a crisis or mission-critical situation.

GeoCast was developed around ESRI’s ArcView 8.2, and works in conjunction with DCC’s signature product, The Communicator!, - a high-speed notification system that provides fast and accurate communication via phone, fax, pager and email in routine and emergency situations such as inclement weather warnings and evacuation notices, corporate contingencies, missing person and terrorist threats.

Coupled with The Communicator!, GeoCast is used by operators and dispatchers to distribute geographically conscious notifications to targeted audiences. For example, a law enforcement agency can use GeoCast to selectively notify a specific business district of criminal activity or alert an entire neighborhood of a missing child. Importantly, GeoCast can prioritize notifications based on location, alerting those in closest proximity to the event or persons in immediate danger first.

"GeoCast is a critical piece of software that significantly enhances our flagship product, The Communicator!," said Chuck Smith, chief technology officer and founder of DCC. "We understand that crisis situations are unpredictable in nature, and time is truly of the essence. So, it is necessary that communications during a crisis can be fast and flexible and reliable. GeoCast encompasses those qualities, users to quickly define an exact target audience and send them incident specific and relevant information, no matter the situation, size of the group or location."

GeoCast, which is capable of assembling, storing, manipulating, and displaying geographically referenced information, has the ability to process thousands of names and phone numbers per minute, initiating first warnings within mere seconds of incident identification. The software displays digital street-level maps for targeted notifications, and enables users to select multiple notification areas simultaneously. All map layers can be displayed at one time, without having to search menus or change views. GeoCast also provides hyperlinks to important external data such as floor plans of specific buildings or detailed evacuation routes.

“Because GeoCast is based on ArcView technology, it truly is a complete product,” said Smith. “It is applicable for any organization, either as a stand-alone solution or as an extension to an existing system.”
