Cathedral City to Install DCC’s Emergency Notification Technology

- New System to Alert Residents during Emergency Situations -

Cathedral City , California – In an effort to strengthen its critical communication capabilities, Cathedral City, California has selected DCC (Dialogic Communications Corporation) to provide an automated emergency notification system. DCC is the global leader in critical communications technology and will install the system later this year.

Cathedral City has purchased DCC’s signature product, The Communicator!, and the company’s mapping interface, GeoCast. The combined technologies will enable Cathedral City to automatically send controlled messages to first responders and hundreds, or even thousands of residents with only a few clicks of a mouse. Incident-specific information or potentially life-saving instruction will be conveyed to everyone, quickly and efficiently alerting them of public safety threats.

“This notification system will help our community be better prepared for any situation, emergency or routine,” said Justin Hilderbrand, Cathedral City’s Systems Engineer for Management Information Systems. “DCC’s technology significantly extends our outreach to local residents. We are closing the communications loop and improving public safety at the same time.”

Scenario-driven, The Communicator! automates manual notification procedures, regardless of complexity or reach, and delivers an accurate and consistent message to designated audiences. Call-outs are activated remotely by phone or directly from the desktop, with reports documenting the results of the notification effort. Applications vary from emergency to routine, and can include severe weather warnings, evacuations, missing person alerts, terrorist threat notifications and community announcements. Cathedral City will be using the Communicator in a partnership with their Senior Center’s outreach program for maintaining contact with homebound seniors.

Working in concert with The Communicator!,GeoCast, DCC’s sophisticated mapping interface, enables users to automatically send notifications to individuals based on their geographic location. For example, users could identify and warn a specific city block or entire county of a missing person, hazardous materials spill or robbery.

With communications demands inside all levels of government greater today than ever before in the nation's history, federal, state and local officials realize the need for the timely, accurate exchange of information in emergency situations. That is why Cathedral City, California, like so many other public safety operations, look to DCC for the automation and execution of critical and routine communications with first responders and the residents-at-risk. From domestic preparedness to man-made and natural disasters to community policing, DCC’s critical communications technology is proven to assists public safety operations across America and around the globe.
