DCC Names Three Public Safety Awardees in 2004 Homeland Security Grant Program
- Winners to Receive Free Access to Critical Notification Technology, Support and Training
-
Franklin, Tennessee – DCC (Dialogic Communications Corporation) – the global leader in critical notification technology – has marked the fourth year of its Homeland Security Grant Program by selecting three recipients from a national pool of public safety applicants. Eager to gain access to the company’s emergency communications solutions, the recipients are:
• Broken Arrow Police Department, OK
• Hollywood Police Department, FL
• City of Rocky Mount, NC
These grant winners most effectively demonstrated both a need and a strategy for utilizing the technology to automate communications with first responders and the general public. As a result, each will receive at no cost, for two years, the use of the company’s latest web-based critical notification solutions -- Communicator! NXT and GeoCast Web. Technical support and training is also included in the program. The estimated value of the two-year grant is $100,000 for each recipient.
“It is an honor to name this year’s awardees,” said Gene Kirby, DCC’s President and Chairman of the Board. “Each year, more and more public safety operations across the country adopt notification technology to strengthen their community services. DCC’s grant program gives organizations that otherwise may have not had the chance an opportunity to expand their communication capabilities and, ultimately, better serve their first responders and local communities.”
DCC’s 2004 Homeland Security Grant Program was opened earlier this year to all city and county fire, law enforcement and emergency management operations in the United States, including colleges and universities. Selection of the 2004 recipients was made by a committee comprised of five exemplary representatives from public safety organizations, DCC’s Co-Chair Rick Wimberly, and an unaffiliated grant consultant.
The company’s grant program was established in 2001, then modified and expanded in 2002 to focus specifically on homeland security. Previous winners include the Police Department of Mutchen, NJ; North Carolina’s Union County Sheriff’s Department; the Police Department of Sheboygan, WI; and the Valley Emergency Communications Center, UT. DCC is beginning to make plans for its 2005 Homeland Security Grant Program, and will provide information to public safety operations and the media early next year.
